Life in RITM

Miles and miles away from home, Reva is like next home to me. It seems to me as if it was just yesterday I joined this college. I oneself can't believe that I have already spent more than a couple of years in the premises of Reva and for me - one rocking roller coaster ride it has been.
Located just off Bangalore International Airport, the beautiful 35 acres campus provides an ideal backdrop for some of the brightest minds in the country to work their best to become the best they can be. To back this up, RITM has a solid infrastructure ranging from a very beautiful campus and hostels to a strong technical backbone and the latest in teaching aids. The geographical proximity to the fastest growing industrial belt in India and the presence of Special Economic Zones around Bangalore provide the right environment for both giving hands-on experience to the students and in enabling the industry to make use of the wealth of technical expertise available in the institute.
When I first entered this campus two and half years back, the first thing that lured me is its beauty and infrastructure. The lawns and woods are really awesome. The birds look at RITM as a quirk of nature. The greenery here is enchanting.
Regarding study, the pressure is high but I believe it is good for us. There will be times when you feel choosing Engineering as your field was the biggest mistake of your life. But then, the highs substantially outweigh the lows. In between the rigors of academics and marks, people here do things that a typical student does. We enjoy our sports. We party hard and celebrate festivals in style (cheers to the cultural variances present among the participants). We go out to the city - Bangalore brimming with life, umpteen eateries, movies, and watering holes. We go for long rides on the highways around our picturesque campus. We do the odd play. We sing (some of us unceremoniously, but we still do!!), we crowd the dance floor at nightlong parties, we celebrate most of the festivals that this blessed multi-cultural, multi lingual land provides us and we celebrate them together. For me, Reva is planet in itself.
Hostel life is really awesome. First thing that flickers through my mind when I think about hostel life here, is the late night chats, long gossip sessions, jokes that makes us roll on the floor laugh and so on. Studying in a group with hot cups of coffee and bowls of maggies that gets empty as soon as it is poured to the bowl, occasional jokes to overcome sleep, with a soft melody playing. The food in mess is seldom palatible for the bakeries inside the college to flourish to their best.
